What MBLEM is for
MBLEM replaces the rear badge with a round digital display you set from your phone. It’s made for the places where cars are shown, admired and photographed.

What MBLEM is not
We’d rather tell you plainly than let a lit badge suggest something it isn’t.
We don’t supply or sell MBLEM as a road-use accessory, and we don’t represent it as approved for use on public roads in Great Britain.
We don’t claim any vehicle-lighting approval or marking for MBLEM, because we don’t hold one.
We never show MBLEM lit up on a vehicle travelling on a public road, and never describe using it that way.
What’s allowed depends on your vehicle, where you use it and the rules of the place you’re in.
MBLEM products are supplied for show, exhibition, private-land and off-road display purposes. They are not represented or approved by MBLEM for use on public roads in Great Britain. Vehicle owners are responsible for making sure that any installation and use of the product complies with the laws and regulations that apply to their vehicle and location.
Why this matters
On a road-going vehicle, anything that lights up can fall under the rules for vehicle lighting and equipment. Here’s the plain-English version of why we position MBLEM the way we do.
The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989 control which lights a vehicle may carry and show, including their colour, position and whether they flash. They can restrict aftermarket illuminated, coloured, flashing, animated or digital displays fitted to road-going vehicles.
The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 set requirements for how road vehicles are built, equipped, maintained and used, and they can apply to equipment added to a vehicle.
DVSA published guidance on aftermarket light products on its Moving On blog: “How to stay compliant with aftermarket light products”. It says digital displays fall outside approved lighting standards, and that action can be taken even if a light is switched off at the time.
“Any light that shows moving images is almost certainly illegal.”
Rules can differ in Northern Ireland and in other countries. Events, venues and landowners can set their own rules as well.
A switch doesn’t settle it. We make no claim that switching MBLEM off, or showing a still image, makes an installation on a road-going vehicle compliant. That’s why our position is simple: show, exhibition, private-land and off-road use.

Yes, if you fit MBLEM to a vehicle. It replaces the rear badge and is wired into the vehicle's 12 V electrics, so it counts as a modification. Tell your insurer about it.
Yes, from your phone. You choose a design in a companion app, which is made by a third party, and send it to the badge.
